It's pretty telling that my 5 year old frequently ends up just picking up the Roku remote and says "let's just use this one, Daddy.¹Google TV has the most free TV channels in one electronic programming guide (EPG). Overall, I'm pretty disappointed in this thing. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but it definitely shouldn't. It's NOT set to the Auto/CEC or Chromecast power setting. Not sure if it matters, but the power button is set to turn off our Samsung TV directly. So there's no way to specify a 5ghz connection. Google Wifi doesn't support having separately SSDs for different frequencies. I heard that switching to 5ghz wifi helps, but. But buffering has not been an issue on any devices I've used in the past few years until this Chromecast. It isn't always like this, sometimes it works just fine. ![]() Like 2-3 buffer sessions when starting a new show before it finally seems to catch up. Add to that, when the new Chromecast does work, it buffers way more than any other streaming device. ![]() We've never had an issue with our Roku or any other previous 3 Chromecast devices before this one. I have to manually go back into WiFi settings and reconnect. A notification will eventually come up that says WiFi Connection Lost. Apps complain about not being connected and will fail no matter how many times we try to go back in. It seems every time that the TV is off for a while and we go to use Chromecast, it loses the WiFi connection. It connected to our Google Wifi just fine at the start (after what I think was an overly complex setup process. The new Chromecast has been giving us tons of WiFi issues since the beginning. Thought I'd post another update since people with similar problems continue finding this thread.
